Hip Hip Hooray for the Red, White and Blue!

Updated: Sep 23, 2020

Get ready to celebrate the 4th of July with a platter filled with sliders and fries!

It is a party in the USA and we are so happy to be able to be part of the celebration. This 4th of July, unlike the past years, will be spent a little quieter. Therefore, I thought I would share with you the platter I put together for Memorial day. Its a family size helping of sliders and fries with some extra goodies to enjoy!

This platter started with the Stars and Stripes bowls that I picked up at Target. Using my favorite galvanized platter again, I decided to make this platter vertically rather than horizontally. Mason jars made the perfect holder for our french fries.

Using a star cookie cutter, cut out stars from provolone cheese slices. Put off to the side.

To make the fireworks, take cheese strings and with a knife slice into 6 smaller cheese string pieces. Wrap a piece of spicy salami around them, add a blueberry on to the food stick. Place the sticks through the salami to hold it together. Make 8 fireworks!

Make small cherry tomatoes and mozzarella pearls bites. On a food stick add 1 cherry tomato with 2 mozzarella pears. Place off to the side.

Slice 3 red peppers for the red bowl. I also added sliced a tomato our burgers. Fill your blue bowl with potato salad.

Place 4 small mason jars at the top of your platter and fill the base of the jar with either ranch dressing or ketchup (or both) and then stuff with fries. Fill the base of your platter with waffle fries.

Fill small condiment bowls with ketchup, mustard, relish, pickles and onions for a tasted slider.

Place your sliders on either side of your bowls. Turkey sliders on one side and beef sliders on the other. Top off with provolone stars and a food pick to hold it in place.

On each side of the platter beside the sliders, add leaf lettuce and slices of red onion.

Sliders and Fries:

My quick and easy slider recipe for turkey and beef sliders:

Recipe for turkey & beef sliders:

  1. 2 lbs of ground turkey

  2. 1 1/2 cups of breadcrumbs

  3. 2 tbsp of parsley

  4. 1 tsp of salt

  5. 1 tsp of pepper

  6. Mix and form into paddies. Approx. the size of the palm of your hand and approx. 1/2" thick.

  7. Repeat recipe to make the beef paddies.

  8. Bbq for 10 mins. Be careful not to lose them through the grill ;)

Place each burger on a Hawaiian sweet roll. Add a star provolone cut out on the top bun and place a bamboo stick to hold it in place.

For the fries & waffle fries: I just purchased them and placed them into an air cooker for 20 mins.
